A Miniskirt Defines Style, Since the '60s.
The miniskirt is one of the most iconic garments of the 20th century and was introduced to the fashion world by Mary Quant, a British designer, in the second half of the '60s. The history of the miniskirt begins in London in 1965, when Mary Quant and her partner, Alexander Plunkett-Greene, opened their first boutique called "Bazaar." Here, Mary Quant started designing clothing that reflected the youthful and rebellious spirit of the era. In 1966, the designer unveiled the miniskirt, a piece of clothing that, as the name suggests, covers only the upper part of the legs. This garment represented a true revolution in women's fashion of the time, as it contradicted the traditional idea of femininity, which called for long and austere skirts. The miniskirt, instead, symbolized the liberation of the female body and the desire to break the rigid societal rules of the era. The miniskirt was an immediate success, especially among young women seeking clothing that reflected their free-spirited and nonconformist nature. However, the miniskirt also sparked controversy and criticism for its length, which some deemed too short and uncomfortable. The miniskirt soon became a symbol of female emancipation and rebellion against the establishment. It was worn by fashion icons of the time, such as Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton, and quickly became a trendy garment. Despite the controversies and criticisms it faced, the miniskirt's success was immediate and lasting. In the following years, the miniskirt became increasingly popular and was offered in many variants and materials, becoming a true symbol of '60s fashion. Even today, the miniskirt is a beloved clothing item among women worldwide and represents a timeless style icon.
What to Wear with a Miniskirt?
A miniskirt allows you to create many different looks, depending on the occasion and your personal style: and the beauty is that there's no need to limit yourself to the warmer seasons; there's no reason not to wear it in the fall or winter if the temperatures aren't too chilly. The classic pairing is a t-shirt or short-sleeved top: for a casual and fresh look, you can pair the Elizaville miniskirt by Dickies with a basic t-shirt or a colorful short-sleeved top. You can complete the look with a pair of New Balance sneakers or flat sandals: a perfect outfit for a young and fresh style. Linen shirt or long-sleeved top: for a more sophisticated look, you can opt for a white or blue linen shirt from Polo Ralph Lauren, perfect with a denim miniskirt and a pair of Tommy Hilfiger wedge sandals. Sweater or cardigan: if you want to wear the miniskirt in winter, you can pair it with an oversized sweater or cardigan. Under the sweater, you can wear a short-sleeved or long-sleeved t-shirt. You can complete the look with thick tights and Chelsea boots like the Timberland models. Denim jacket: if you want to give an urban touch to your look, you can pair the miniskirt with a Levi’s trucker jacket, worn over a t-shirt or top underneath the jacket, and complete the look with boat shoes or high-top sneakers.
As Sexy as You Want, the Miniskirt is Suitable for All Ages.
Many women or girls often find themselves contemplating whether or not to wear a miniskirt, and the dilemma is directly proportional to the doubts they have about their bodies, increased by the fact of having to try them on and possibly return them. In the selection of miniskirts at GH-Stores, you will find models that suit you, and you can consult the size guide and details on the product page, or consult us for the information you need to ensure you make the right choice.
